Get ready to relive the laughs and nostalgia of the iconic comedy movie American Pie at The Astor Theatre in Melbourne with a special screening to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
On Friday 7 February 2025 the Astor will host a screening with a live Q&A session featuring one of the film’s stars, Thomas Ian Nicholas, who played Kevin Myers.
Released in 1999, American Pie quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Directed by Paul Weitz and written by Adam Herz, the film follows a group of high school friends who make a pact to lose their virginity before graduation. The main characters, including Jim (Jason Biggs), Oz (Chris Klein), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), and Stifler (Seann William Scott), embark on a series of hilarious and often embarrassing misadventures.
The film’s humor is often crude and raunchy, but it resonated with audiences for its honest, albeit exaggerated, portrayal of teenage angst and curiosity. American Pie also introduced some unforgettable moments and catchphrases, such as the infamous pie scene and Stifler’s outrageous antics, which have since become part of pop culture lore.
Its success led to a series of sequels, including American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and American Reunion (2012), as well as several spin-off films.
Over the years, American Pie has earned a cult status for its influence on the teen comedy genre and its ability to capture the spirit of a generation.
Fans attendnig the anniversary screening will have the opportunity to not only watch the movie on the big screen but also engage with Thomas Ian Nicholas in a live Q&A session, where he’ll share behind-the-scenes stories and answer questions from the audience.
Tickets for the event are available in different packages, including standard tickets, Silver Packages with a photo opportunity, Gold Packages with a photo and autograph, and the Ultimate VIP Package, which includes a photo, autograph, and a 30-minute meet-and-greet with Thomas Ian Nicholas.
