Fed Square has unveiled a trio of massive free outdoor music events set to light up the heart of Melbourne from October through to New Year’s Eve, featuring King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Detroit house icon Moodymann, and a local all-star lineup to close out 2025.
Kicking off the series, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard return to the city on 24 October for their first Melbourne show in more than two years. Known for their restless experimentation, the band will perform a fully improvised electronic rave set using eurorack-modular setups — marking their Australian debut in the techno realm.
Berlin-based, Naarm-born DJ and producer Merve opens the night, bringing her genre-defying sound shaped by performances at Panorama Bar and Boiler Room.
On 27 November, Fed Square will be transformed into a house music haven when Detroit legend Moodymann takes the stage. Famed for his ability to fuse soul, funk, disco and hip hop into deep, unpredictable house sets, Moodymann will be joined by Melbourne electronic pioneer DJ Jnett. Together, they’ll deliver a rare double bill pairing international prestige with local mastery.
The year wraps up with a New Year’s Eve celebration curated by Barry Sunset, featuring MzRizk and Gavin Campbell. From 7pm through to the midnight countdown, the trio will spin a high-energy mix of disco, funk, house and dancefloor classics against the backdrop of Melbourne’s skyline — all completely free to attend.
“Fed Square has cemented its place as one of Australia’s most exciting homes for live music, drawing huge crowds to free events right in the heart of Melbourne,” said Katrina Sedgwick OAM, Director & CEO of MAP Co.
“This next wave of events builds on that success, with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Moodymann and Jnett joining a line-up of world-class artists who make Fed Square the place to experience unforgettable live music – accessible and open for everyone to enjoy.”
