Melbourne’s most iconic vertical challenge is back this March, with locals invited to tackle 1240 stairs to the very top of the Rialto Towers for a powerful cause.
On Sunday 22 March, the Rialto Run-Up will see participants race from the ground floor up 54 levels of the Collins Street landmark, finishing high above the city on the 55th floor. Inspired by the legendary Empire State Building Run-Up in New York, the event was the first stair climbing race in Australia when it launched in the late 1980s and it has remained a bucket list fitness challenge ever since.
But this is more than just a test of stamina. Every step taken helps raise vital funds for Giant Steps, a Melbourne based charity supporting children and adults profoundly impacted by autism and their families.
Giant Steps delivers a specialist school, adult day program and mental health clinic, helping autistic individuals improve communication skills, access meaningful work experience, build functional life skills and reach milestones once thought out of reach. Funds raised through the event go directly towards expanding these life changing services.
Whether you are a seasoned runner, a weekend warrior or simply keen to challenge yourself for a good cause, the Rialto Run-Up is a chance to push your limits while giving back to the community.
The event runs from 8am to 12pm on Sunday 22 March 2026 at 525 Collins Street. Registrations are open now at rialtorunup.net.au.
