Melbourne’s Rialto Piazza is set to burst into bloom this August, with more than 35,000 bright yellow daffodils transforming the Collins Street precinct for Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day.
The activation will take place from 19 to 20 August, marking a special shared milestone as both Rialto and Daffodil Day celebrate 40 years. Rialto has supported the annual fundraising campaign for more than a decade and will once again become Victoria’s largest Daffodil Day activation site.
Visitors can pick up a bunch of daffodils in a glass bottle for $15, with every purchase helping Cancer Council fund vital cancer research and support services. Daffodil Day pins will also be available for $10.
Adding to the sea of flowers will be a giant LEGO installation from The Brickman team, who will be at Rialto Piazza constructing a spectacular daffodil sculpture across several days. Visitors will be able to watch the creation take shape before its official unveiling on Daffodil Day.

We encourage Melburnians to visit the activation, buy a bunch of beautiful daffodils and know that they have been part of giving hope to Australians affected by cancer.”
Lyrian Fleming-Parsley, Head of Fundraising and Communications at Cancer Council Victoria, said: “For 40 years, Daffodil Day has united Australians in giving hope to everyone affected by cancer. It’s a chance to honour those we’ve lost, support those facing cancer today, and celebrate the life-saving research that is helping more people survive.”
The activation runs from 7am to 7pm on 19 and 20 August, or until sold out, at 525 Collins Street.
