Alex Lloyd is heading back on the road to celebrate 25 years of Watching Angels Mend, the album that helped cement his place in Australian music.
The Sydney singer-songwriter will tour nationally from June through to December, bringing the anniversary shows to audiences across six states and territories. The run includes a stop in Adelaide at The Gov on Sunday 25 October, with more dates rolling out across the country.
The massive tour will see him play in Victoria on 17 July at Volta in Ballarat, 18 July at Chapel off Chapel in Prahran, 23 July at Odessa Bar in Creswick, 24 July at The Theatre Royal in Castlemaine, 25 and 26 July at Meeniyan Town Hall, 21 November at Sooki Lounge in Belgrave and 22 and 23 November at George Lane in St Kilda.
Watching Angels Mend remains Lloyd’s most defining release. The album peaked at number two on the ARIA Albums Chart and delivered a string of widely recognised singles, including Amazing, Green and Everybody’s Laughing. Amazing in particular became a standout moment, taking out the top spot in the triple j Hottest 100 of 2001 and becoming one of the most enduring Australian songs of that era.
The anniversary tour has been a long time coming. Lloyd originally planned to mark 20 years of the album in 2021, but those shows were shelved during the COVID lockdown period. This new run gives the milestone the scale it arguably always deserved.
Lloyd first broke through in 1999 with Black the Sun, which reached number nine on the ARIA chart and earned him the ARIA Award for Best Male Artist. His follow-up release took that momentum further, turning him into a household name and locking in a loyal national fan base.
Since then, he has released multiple albums and continued to tour consistently, maintaining a steady connection with audiences. His most recent releases include new singles in 2025, showing he is still actively writing and performing alongside revisiting his earlier work.
