Jack Johnson is heading back to Australia this November, bringing a stacked lineup and a new creative project with him.
The Hawaiian singer-songwriter will tour in support of his upcoming documentary and soundtrack, SURFILMUSIC, landing in Melbourne for a show at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Tuesday 17 November. The run also includes stops in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney, before heading to New Zealand.
The film traces Johnson’s path from surfer to filmmaker to global musician, digging into his early days on the north shore of Hawaii and the surf films that helped shape his career.
The doco explores “Johnson’s evolution from surfer to filmmaker to world-renowned musician, from his youth on the north shore of Hawaii through the making of his iconic surf films Thicker Than Water (1999) and The September Sessions (2000), to the beginning of his music career. Those classic surf films revealed Johnson’s artistic point of view through his lens and guitar, ultimately launching his music career.”

Joining him on tour are longtime collaborators Ben Harper and John Butler, making this one of the stronger touring lineups to hit the country this year. Emily Wurramurra will also appear as a special guest at the Sydney show.
Johnson has been a regular visitor to Australia over the years, building a loyal following across more than two decades. His catalogue includes eight studio albums, with several topping the ARIA charts, alongside a steady stream of well-known singles.
Ben Harper brings his blend of folk, soul and blues, backed by a long list of releases and crowd favourites, while John Butler remains one of Australia’s most consistent live performers, both solo and with the John Butler Trio.
Presale tickets begin from 7 May, with general sale opening at 2pm AEST on 12 May.
For Melbourne fans, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl show is likely to be one of the standout outdoor gigs of the season.
