Melbourne will come together this June for a powerful evening of culture, music and reflection as the Koorie Heritage Trust presents a free Mabo Day Celebration Concert at Fed Square on 3 June 2026.
Held at The Edge from 6pm, the event honours the legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo and his historic role in reshaping Australia’s understanding of land, justice and First Peoples’ rights. The night will bring together live music, spoken word, video, storytelling and Islander food, creating a vibrant and heartfelt community gathering in the centre of Narrm.
The program features a strong lineup of Torres Strait Islander performers based in Narrm, including MC Leon Filewood, singer Kee’ahn, musician Jessie Lloyd and DJ randals dad. Guests can expect a mix of soulful performance, cultural storytelling and a joyful ukulele sing-along that brings the crowd together.

The event also acknowledges the deeper history behind the Mabo decision, which overturned the doctrine of terra nullius and led to the introduction of the Native Title Act 1993. It remains one of the most significant legal and cultural turning points in modern Australian history.
