Federation Square has officially welcomed a major new pub, with Good Nature opening its doors today just ahead of one of Melbourne’s busiest sporting weekends of the year.
Taking over the former Beer Deluxe site, the new venue has been completely reimagined as a lush urban pub and beer garden designed for everything from long lunches and after-work drinks to pre-footy catch-ups and family outings in the city.
Positioned along one of Melbourne’s busiest cultural and sporting corridors, Good Nature arrives as thousands of AFL fans prepare to move through the CBD for the Big Freeze clash and King’s Birthday long weekend festivities. The venue is leaning into the game-day atmosphere with live sport screenings, DJs, live music and family-friendly entertainment planned across the opening weekend.
The redesign gives the long-running Federation Square location a softer and greener feel, with native-inspired planting, natural stone, timber finishes and layered lighting helping transform the once industrial-style pub into a more relaxed city retreat.
At the centre of the venue is the upgraded beer garden, now fitted with a retractable awning, heating and weather protection designed to make outdoor dining comfortable year-round. Large screens and upgraded AV also allow the space to host live music, DJs and major sports screenings throughout the year.
Venue Manager Ebony King said the venue was created to feel welcoming and distinctly Melbourne.
“Good Nature is about creating a place where people can come together, whether it’s for a casual lunch, after-work drinks, live sport, family outing or weekend celebration,” said King.
The menu focuses on elevated pub classics, with parmas, fish and chips and grills joined by dishes like sticky soy pork ribs, pan-fried barramundi and spanner crab spaghetti.
Weekly DJs, acoustic sessions, Sunday roasts and free kids entertainment are also set to become part of the venue’s regular programming.
