A disused industrial site in Kensington is set to be reborn for one night only on 18 July 2026, when CONVERGE takes over with an immersive installation blending light, sound and motion inside a secret location that will remain undisclosed until closer to the event.
Audiences will step into darkness and move freely through an evolving environment where perception becomes part of the performance. Rather than sitting and observing, visitors become active participants inside a space that continuously shifts and responds in real time.
At the core of CONVERGE is a carefully engineered interaction between lighting systems and surround sound composition. As the experience unfolds, sequences build, crest and dissolve around the body, creating a sense that the space itself is alive and constantly reconfiguring.
The sound design draws from industrial source material including electromagnetic hums, distorted scrap metal resonance, analogue synth bass and layered textures. The result is a dense sonic architecture that audiences do not simply hear but physically move through.
The concept of convergence underpins the entire work, with light, sound, body and environment gradually aligning before separating again in an ongoing cycle of tension and release.
CONVERGE is presented by Jasmine Grace Studio, led by light artist and creative director Jasmine Grace, known for immersive environments that explore perception through spatial design and light-based storytelling.
Sound design is created by multi award-winning electronic producer Jake Steele, whose work spans film, fashion and installation. For CONVERGE, he constructs an industrial score built from field recordings, synthesis and digital manipulation designed specifically for spatial audio systems.
The experience concludes with a live performance by Steele under his alias Tobacco Rat, combining bass-heavy club influences with reactive lighting, alongside audiovisual artist Vijay Thillaimuthu performing live modular synthesis controlled by theremin.
CONVERGE runs across four timed sessions on 18 July 2026, each approximately 35 minutes with the final session expanding into a live performance format.
