One of Europe’s most talked-about electronic artists is finally making the trip to Australia, with Belgian producer and DJ Pegassi announcing his first-ever headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this December.
Presented by Untitled Group and Finely Tuned, the rising star will deliver extended all night long sets in both cities, giving Australian fans a rare chance to experience the high-energy club sound that has made him one of the fastest-growing names in dance music.
Performing under the Pegassi moniker, Belgian producer Sam Huybrecht has built a devoted global following through a distinctive blend of eurodance, trance, techno and house. His breakthrough came with a viral remix of No Type, which climbed to the top of SoundCloud’s global charts and introduced his rave-fuelled sound to audiences around the world.
Since then, Pegassi has continued his rapid ascent with tracks including Yoyoyo, MOAA, Upclose and 227kg, combining nostalgic dancefloor influences with modern production and relentless energy. His music has earned support from some of the electronic scene’s biggest tastemakers, including Marlon Hoffstadt, Anetha, Trym, Job Jobse, VTSS and Solomun.
The producer’s reputation has also been forged behind the decks. Over recent years he has appeared at major festivals and club institutions including Tomorrowland, Boiler Room, Teletech, Thuishaven, Intercell and RSO, becoming known for unpredictable sets that push deep into the night.
His momentum shows no signs of slowing, with a recently announced Amsterdam Dance Event headline show selling out in just 30 minutes. Alongside touring, Pegassi has also launched his own label and event platform, Sweet Nothing, designed to champion emerging artists and new sounds.
Melbourne will host the Australian debut at The Wool Store in West Footscray on Friday 4 December before the tour heads to Sydney’s Carriageworks on Saturday 5 December.
