A spectacular blend of circus, storytelling and Fijian culture is heading to Melbourne, with The Fijian Flying Circus presented by Fiji Airways making its Australian premiere under the big top at Melbourne Showgrounds this October.
Created by internationally renowned Fijian performance company VOU, the high-energy production promises two hours of breathtaking acrobatics, live music and family-friendly adventure inspired by the beauty, traditions and spirit of Fiji.
Audiences will follow the journey of Loma, a curious young girl who is swept into a mystical world after one of her enchanted shoes is stolen. Alongside her mischievous companion Tui, she encounters cheeky forest spirits, towering giants and powerful elemental forces on a quest filled with humour, courage and imagination.
The production combines spectacular circus skills with rich island storytelling, showcasing everything from gravity-defying aerial acrobatics and daring tightrope walking to the mesmerising art of the hair hang. The result is a colourful celebration of Fijian culture unlike anything previously seen on Australian stages.
Live performance is at the heart of the experience, with the powerful sounds of the traditional lali drum and soaring island harmonies creating an immersive soundtrack. Traditional Fijian rhythms are woven together with contemporary music, adding another layer of excitement to the action unfolding above and around the audience.
Designed for all ages, The Fijian Flying Circus is packed with moments of laughter, wonder and spectacle, making it an ideal outing for families these school holidays. The venue is also wheelchair accessible, ensuring more visitors can enjoy the experience.
Presented inside a traditional circus tent, the production offers a unique opportunity to experience the energy, culture and joyful spirit of Fiji through world-class performance.
The Fijian Flying Circus will perform at Melbourne Showgrounds for a limited season in October and November 2026. Tickets are on sale now.
