This winter Fever presents Starstruck in Melbourne, in association with the Smithsonian Institute – the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex. This is an immersive and fully interactive virtual reality experience centred around the universe and beyond, and the various telescopes we use in order to learn more about the veil of stars that blankets our night sky.

This immersive experience is brought to you using the same technology as the Machu Picchu and Titanic virtual reality exhibits that Fever has previously put together and brought to Melbourne – and you’re in for an adventure you won’t soon forget.
Starstrick features 3D renderings of the Hubble Space Telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory. With images captured from NASA’s Parker Solar Probe, you even get to learn more about our own sun, solar flares and how the stability and conditions on the sun directly affect not just Earth but all of the other planets in our solar system.

This is such a fascinating topic, if you’ve got a little one at home who loves everything space then this is the perfect activity to take them to this school holidays.
The experience is about an hour long, and takes you from stars to supernovas and even blackholes. You won’t believe how small you’ll feel when compared even to an imitation of the infinite vacuum of space.
Smithsonian Starstruck is located on Level 1, 206 Bourke Street, in Melbourne’s CBD, near Chinatown and tickets are currently available from July through to September. I recommend taking some friends or family with you, as groups of up to six are allowed to enter at a time.
