ustralian rock favourites vSpy vSpy are marking a major milestone this spring, hitting the road to celebrate the 40th anniversaries of two defining releases, Harry’s Reasons and A.O. Mod. TV. Vers., with a national tour that includes a Melbourne stop at the Corner Hotel on Monday, 2 November.
The anniversary run honours both albums released in 1986, with Harry’s Reasons arriving in February through Midnight Oil’s Powderworks label before A.O. Mod. TV. Vers. followed in December. The latter became one of the band’s biggest successes, reaching No. 12 on the Australian charts, earning a gold certification and featuring the enduring single Don’t Tear It Down.
For longtime fans, the tour promises something extra special, with vSpy vSpy set to perform several songs live for the first time in 35 years. It offers a rare opportunity to revisit material that helped cement the band’s place in Australian rock history while celebrating four decades since these influential records first arrived.
The tour begins in Perth before travelling through Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane, where the band will support Sunnyboys as part of the 4ZZZ ZED51 celebrations, before wrapping up in Melbourne on the eve of the Melbourne Cup public holiday.
To coincide with the anniversary shows, both Harry’s Reasons and A.O. Mod. TV. Vers. will be reissued on limited coloured vinyl, marking the first modern vinyl releases of recordings from this era. Pre-orders close on Friday, 31 July, with shipping beginning on Friday, 2 October.
