Australian Open style is heading from the court to the runway, with a free fashion showcase taking over Melbourne’s City Square during Melbourne Fashion Week on Saturday 24 October.
The AO Edit, presented by the Australian Open and styled by Jade Leung, will offer an early glimpse at AO27 style at 6pm, bringing together Tennis Australia’s premium lifestyle range, New Balance pieces and a first look at the new BOSS ballkids.
The showcase will explore the growing crossover between sport and fashion, with umpire and ballkid uniforms, signature AO blue performance wear and elevated courtside looks all featuring on the runway.
Models, dancers and other talent will join the presentation at the newly revamped City Square, creating a lively centrepiece for a full day of M/FW events.
The AO Edit follows Street Style at 2pm and After Hours at 4pm, with both showcases highlighting Melbourne designers and retailers.
Melbourne Fashion Week runs from Monday 19 to Sunday 25 October, with more than 100 free and ticketed events and sessions taking place across the city. More than 300 designers and retailers are involved in this year’s program.
Lord Mayor Nick Reece said: “Just when you thought Melbourne Fashion Week couldn’t serve up anything more, it delivers an ace.”
“The AO Edit brings together two of Melbourne’s most iconic events, giving audiences an exclusive first look at Australian Open style while celebrating the city’s reputation as Australia’s sporting and fashion capital,” he said.
The collaboration gives fashion fans a chance to see how the Australian Open’s visual identity extends beyond the tennis court, ahead of the tournament’s return in summer.
With the runway free to attend, it is also an easy addition to a day exploring M/FW in the CBD.
