After months locked away in a Perth studio, Australian prog-rock giants Karnivool are finally ready to unleash new material on stage, announcing a 13-date winter tour across the country. The tour marks their first major shows since 2013’s Asymmetry, giving fans a sneak peek at their long-gestating fourth album.
“We can’t bloody wait to get out there and share what’s been brewing in the Karnivool riff pot,” says frontman Ian Kenny.
While no release date is confirmed, the band promises “new material, road-tested for the first time” alongside reworked classics like Themata and Goliath.
Former in Perth in 1997 by vocalist Ian Kenny, the band’s lineup includes Drew Goddard (lead guitar), Mark Hosking (guitar), Jon Stockman (bass), and Steve Judd (drums).
Their debut album, Themata (2005), introduced their blend of alternative metal and progressive rock. The follow-up, Sound Awake (2009), received critical acclaim for its intricate musicianship and innovative songwriting . Their third album, Asymmetry (2013), debuted at number one on the ARIA Charts, further solidifying their reputation
Karnivool is known for their complex rhythms, emotive melodies, and dynamic live performances. They have been influential in the Australian progressive music scene and continue to captivate audiences worldwide
The tour kicks off in Hobart before hitting Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and more, culminating in a hometown Fremantle show in October. Victorian fans can catch them at Barwon Heads, Frankston and Port Melbourne.
Tickets go on sale 26 May – your first chance to witness Karnivool’s next chapter.
