Legendary UK gothic rock pioneers The Sisters of Mercy are returning to Australia later this year, with Melbourne set to host one of the band’s highly anticipated headline shows as part of a national tour celebrating their decades-long influence on alternative music.
The tour will arrive at Forum Melbourne on Wednesday 2 December, following dates in Perth, Sydney and Hobart before wrapping up in Brisbane.
Formed in 1980 by Andrew Eldritch and Gary Marx, The Sisters of Mercy became one of the defining acts of the post-punk and gothic rock movement, building a devoted global following through their fusion of punk energy, industrial textures, dance rhythms and Eldritch’s unmistakable baritone vocals.

Despite releasing only three studio albums, the band’s catalogue has left a huge mark on generations of alternative and heavy artists, influencing acts including Metallica, Nine Inch Nails and My Chemical Romance.
Fans attending the Melbourne show can expect a career-spanning setlist featuring classics like Temple Of Love, This Corrosion and Lucretia My Reflection, alongside newer material and deep cuts. The current lineup includes Eldritch, Ben Christo, Kai, Ravey Dave Creffield and the band’s long-running drum machine presence Doktor Avalanche.
Known for their atmospheric live shows and cinematic lighting design, The Sisters of Mercy continue to attract audiences across generations, with their dark aesthetic and genre-defining sound remaining hugely influential more than four decades after forming.
Spotify presale tickets begin Tuesday 26 May, followed by a second presale on Wednesday 27 May. General public tickets go on sale Thursday 28 May.
