Paul Dempsey is bringing back his legendary Shotgun Karaoke for an exclusive one-night performance on Wednesday 24 April (Anzac Day Eve) at the Northcote Theatre.
Renowned for his solo work and as the frontman of Something For Kate, Dempsey’s Shotgun Karaoke originated during a tour with the band, featuring impromptu covers performed backstage and uploaded nightly to YouTube. These sessions culminated in a successful album and sold-out tour a decade ago.
While Dempsey is celebrated for his original compositions like ‘Captain’ and ‘Déjà Vu’, Shotgun Karaoke offers a unique opportunity for him to showcase his admiration for other artists through covers, accompanied solely by his voice and an acoustic guitar.
Throughout the years, Dempsey’s repertoire has expanded to include tracks by artists such as Bad Religion, INXS, Courtney Barnett, and Queen. His versatility and passion for music ensure that each Shotgun Karaoke setlist is eagerly anticipated by fans, with speculation brewing about which songs he’ll tackle next.
Tickets are on sale now and are expected to go quickly.
