Hugo’s Deli in Melbourne and Maxibon are joining forces to offer a treat to locals. The popular eatery, situated at the intersection of Swan and Dando streets in Richmond, will be giving away 10,000 free Maxibon ice-cream sandwiches this weekend (27-28 April 2024).
The event marks the return of the Maxibon Peanut Jams with Butter, also known as a PBJ Maxibon which came back following a petition on social media garnered thousands of supporters.
To celebrate the return of the peanut butter and jam combo, the iconic deli will undergo a Maxibon-themed transformation, offering a special menu highlighting the beloved flavor duo.
Alongside free PBJ Bons, they’ll serve a new sandwich called the PBJ Sanga, featuring southern fried chicken, peanut butter, cherry, and pepper berry glaze for $18.50. Coffee will also be available starting from $4.50.
“Australians have already fallen in love with our remastered creation, PBJ Bon, so we thought we’d give back to those who never gave up on the cult-classic flavour 8 years ago, by giving out 10,000 of them,” said Maxibon Brand Manager, Stephanie Chosich.
“Sandwich delis are having a real moment right now too, so it felt right to partner with one of the best in Melbourne, Hugo’s Deli, to deliver our free beloved bons,” she said.
“It really is a tale of two sandwich legends coming together and we can’t wait to see thousands of Aussies turn out to share the experience with us.”
The event will be taking place at Hugo’s Deli Richmond from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 27 April and Sunday 28 April or until sold out.
