Comedic virtuoso, Eric Idle, is bringing his latest show to Australia later this year. You’ll be able to catch him at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Monday 4 November.
Best known as a member of the iconic British comedy group Monty Python, Idle’s quick wit and irreverent humor have left an indelible mark on the world of comedy.
His contributions to Monty Python’s Flying Circus, including writing, acting, and singing, helped shape the landscape of surreal and absurdist humor in the 1970s.
Notable characters like the “Nudge Nudge” man and the cowardly Sir Robin in Monty Python and the Holy Grail have become timeless comedic icons.
Beyond Monty Python, Idle’s talents extend to stage and screen, with his work in the musical comedy Spamalot earning him a Tony Award.
An accomplished musician, Idle has penned many comedic songs, including the legendary Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from Monty Python’s Life of Brian. With his irrepressible charm and comedic genius, Eric Idle continues to delight audiences worldwide.
The star of stage, screen and crossword puzzle, has often been compared to Noel Coward. But never favorably. He has been in showbusiness since 1961. “Unfortunately I can’t find the exit” he says. “My role in life seems to be cheering people up,” he adds glumly.
His new show, coincidentally called Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, Live! is a nostalgic one man musical reflecting his love of comedy, music, life and what he calls mock and roll. A weird hybrid of comedy and music, with tributes to George Harrison and Robin Williams and a salute to The Rutles, the Beatle parody movie he created which was the world’s first ever mocumentary about the legendary pre-fab four whose legend will last a lunchtime..
Don’t miss this unforgettable evening with comedy legend Eric Idle. Presale begins Thursday 9 May 2024 10am and general onsale is Monday 13 May, 9am.
