American rockers, The Flaming Lips are heading to Australia February 2025, – their first tour here since 2020. They’ll be playing at Melbourne’s Festival Hall on 1 February 2025.
The band will perform their acclaimed 2002 album, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, in full, along with other fan favourites.
The band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City and are known for their eclectic music and flamboyant stage performances. Led by frontman Wayne Coyne, the band has gained a reputation for pushing the boundaries of psychedelic and alternative rock.
Their sound is characterized by a mix of lush, symphonic arrangements, experimental noise, and whimsical, often surreal lyrics.
The Flaming Lips are also famous for their live shows, which often include elaborate costumes, giant inflatable balls, and stunning visual effects, creating a uniquely immersive experience. Despite their avant-garde style, the band has enjoyed mainstream success, winning multiple Grammy Awards and continuing to influence a wide range of artists with their innovative approach to music and performance.
