Global rock superstars Green Day have announced the details of the Australian leg of their their massive 2024/25 global stadium tour – The Saviors Tour.
This is the band’s biggest live undertaking to date, and they have announced they will play their albums Dookie and American Idiot in full, as well as tracks from their new album Saviors and many of their other hits. Their support act on this tour will be Californian rockers AFI who are returning to Australia for the first time since 2017.
The Saviors tour will kick off at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Saturday 1 March 2025.
The tour will be a larger-than-life, career-spanning celebration of one of the biggest musical acts of all time and some of the most important albums in history.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Green Day’s 1994 certified Diamond album, Dookie, and the 20th anniversary of 2004’s juggernaut, American Idiot. Each a cultural phenomenon in its own right, these albums have remained at the forefront of punk culture since their release.
Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, California Green Day is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, with more than 75 million records sold worldwide and 10 billion cumulative audio/visual streams.
The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool, who joined in 1990. Known for their energetic punk rock sound, Green Day played a pivotal role in popularizing punk rock in the United States during the 1990s.
Green Day shared, “We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors, a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together. And we can not wait to return to Australia, it’s been way too long. So let’s thrash.”
