Bahari, the beloved Greek restaurant on Swan Street, Richmond, is celebrating its 10th birthday this October with a special feed-me menu featuring customer favorites and a unique birthday cake dessert. From October 8 to 20, diners can indulge in this celebratory menu that pays tribute to a decade of mouthwatering dishes and Greek hospitality.
Founded by ex-MasterChef contestant Philip Vakos and his wife Heleena, Bahari quickly became a foodie destination in Melbourne. Despite challenges in the hospitality industry, including COVID-19 lockdowns, Bahari has thrived, attracting loyal customers with Phil’s expertly crafted menu and warm Greek atmosphere.
The celebration includes signature dishes like baby stuffed calamari, slow roasted lamb shoulder, and Phil’s renowned orange blossom baklava. The cosy restaurant has expanded in recent years with the addition of “Upstairs,” a bar and dining space ideal for weekend guests and private events.
For $75 per person, groups of three or more can enjoy the 10th Birthday feed-me menu, featuring a mix of dips, saganaki, lamb, chicken, and a delightful “Gringlish” birthday cake. The special dishes will also be available alongside Bahari’s usual banquet and a la carte menus throughout the celebration.
Philip Vakos said he is thrilled to be celebrating the restaurant’s double-digit birthday.
“We are excited to celebrate this huge milestone. We will be showcasing our special birthday menu, with all the faves from over the years. And, of course, some fun and an epic birthday cake!
“I am not going to say it’s been easy to get Bahari to its 10th birthday. There have been lots of challenges that come with running a small business, namely, of course the two years of lockdowns endured here in Melbourne, and the challenges that still remain today. But it has been rewarding. I love creating dishes and seeing people enjoy our Greek food and hospitality,” he said.
