Moonee Valley will come alive after dark this winter with the return of Valley Sounds, a free micro-music festival running from 23 May to 1 June as part of the Live and Local program. Showcasing an impressive lineup of Australian talent across bars, restaurants, and unexpected venues, the festival promises to bring warmth to the cooler months with electrifying performances.
Kicking off on Friday, 23 May, the festival opens at Penny Lane Palace Cinema Rooftop with multi-award-winning artist Ella Hooper, whose career has soared since her early days with Killing Heidi. Joining her is Radical Son, whose soulful hip-hop and powerful connection to Country captivate audiences, and Amutha, a DJ and producer known for her immersive rave-inspired sets.
The following nights will see an eclectic mix of acts, including:
- The Great Emu War Casualties (24 May, Essendon Bowls Club), an eccentric post-pop art rock band known for their wild energy
- Dan Vogl (30 May, Mt Alexander Hotel), an indie rock’n’roll artist who has shared stages with British India and Bob Evans
- Gabby Steel (31 May, Holmes Hall), a soulful singer-songwriter blending folk, indie pop, and blues
Mayor of Moonee Valley Cr Ava Adams said: “Valley Sounds is a great way to continue our successful 2025 festival season, while supporting our local venues and the talented musicians who will be taking to the stage. I can’t wait to see our community come out in support of a fabulous festival with such an impressive line-up. It will have everyone dancing the night away.”
Additional performers include Aydan x Rgnz, Cooper Lower, Trasch Talkin, Annie and the Make Believe, and Paulo Almeida, with more acts to be announced.
Presented by Moonee Valley City Council as part of its Igniting Creativity Strategy, Valley Sounds supports the local night-time economy while bringing world-class music to the community.
