Hawthorn favourite Betterburnt is leaning into Easter with a limited-edition twist on its cult Basque cheesecakes, and it sounds like one worth planning ahead for.
The Glenferrie Road spot has unveiled the Hot Cross Basque, a seasonal creation built on a dark chocolate Basque cheesecake base. It’s topped with an orange-infused, lightly spiced mascarpone cream, folded through with sultanas for a nod to the classic hot cross bun flavour profile.
Like the rest of Betterburnt’s lineup, it keeps things simple but dialled in, with a focus on rich texture and balanced sweetness. It’s also gluten free and vegetarian, and only available as a 5-inch whole cake, designed to serve around four.


The Hot Cross Basque will be available from 1 April to 5 April, with pre-orders recommended and requiring three days’ notice. A limited number will also be available in-store for walk-ins.
Opening hours across the Easter weekend run from 10am to 3pm daily.
