A major new indoor snow experience is set to land in Melbourne’s west, with Australian company Snowtunnel confirming plans for a large-scale alpine-style facility just 11 kilometres from the CBD, due to open in late 2026.
The project, at an as yet undisclosed location, will anchor the brand’s global headquarters and introduce its patented Snowtunnel, a rotating structure lined with real, groomed snow designed to simulate a continuous downhill run for all skill levels.

Standing 12.5 metres high, roughly the height of a four-storey building, and stretching 16 metres long, the Snowtunnel delivers more than 600 square metres of constantly rideable surface. The system uses variable speed control to cater to everyone from first-timers to experienced riders, allowing for both controlled learning and higher-speed runs within the same space.
The concept places snow sports in the same urban category as URBNSURF Melbourne, removing the need for seasonal travel and turning what has traditionally been a destination experience into something accessible year round.

But the Melbourne site is being positioned as more than just a training ground for seasoned shredders. The facility is designed as a broader alpine experience showcase, built to appeal to families, beginners and regular riders alike.
Alongside the main tunnel, a dedicated snow play zone will offer fresh powder conditions for casual visitors and first-timers, creating an entry point for those who have never experienced snow. A structured progression program led by certified instructors will support skill development across all levels, from beginners through to advanced snow athletes.
The venue will also include full on-site gear hire, allowing visitors to step onto the snow without the cost barrier of purchasing equipment.
