Melbourne footy fans are set for a welcome reprieve as the Australian Football League rolls out reduced General Admission prices across key matches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Marvel Stadium.
Running from Round 10 to Round 15 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season, the initiative drops adult GA tickets to $20, concession tickets to $15, while junior entry remains at $5. Families will also benefit from a reduced pass price of $40, offering a more accessible way to experience the game live as cost-of-living pressures continue to bite.
The move comes off the back of a huge season turnout, with more than 2.8 million fans already passing through the gates, making 2026 the second-highest attended AFL season on record so far. It is a clear signal that while crowds remain strong, there is a growing focus on keeping the live footy experience within reach for everyday supporters.
At Marvel Stadium, the savings extend beyond the gate. Fans can snap up $4 hotdogs, alongside some of the cheapest stadium staples in the league, including Four’N Twenty pies for $4.70 and hot chips for $4.90, helping keep the overall cost of a day out in check.
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said the initiative was about giving something back to fans and helping families continue to enjoy the game live.
“It has been a brilliant start to the season, with crowds across the competition incredibly strong and more than 2.8 million fans already coming through the gates, which is up year-on-year,” Mr Dillon said.
“That support from fans has been outstanding, and we never take it for granted.
“At the same time, we know families are feeling cost-of-living pressures and every household is making decisions about where they spend their money.
“Footy is at its best when the stadiums are full, when families can come together, and when kids can experience the game live.
“By reducing General Admission ticket prices for selected matches in Melbourne, we want to remove a barrier where we can and make it easier for fans to enjoy a day or night at the footy.
“Our game is strong, crowds are strong, and this is about giving something back to our fans and continuing to prioritise them.
“We would like to thank the clubs, the MCG, Marvel Stadium and all stakeholders for their collaboration in continuing to deliver for our fans.”
Fans can stretch their dollar even further by taking advantage of free public transport across Victoria throughout May, making it easier to get to and from the game without the extra cost.
