Northern Irish alt-rock icons Ash are heading back to Australia to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their landmark debut album 1977, bringing one of the defining records of the 1990s back to the stage in full.
It has been two years since the trio last toured Australia, with fans now set to relive the album that launched the band into international success while they were still teenagers. Released in 1996 and produced by Owen Morris at Wales’ famous Rockfield Studios, 1977 went on to sell more than two million copies worldwide and topped the UK Albums Chart.
Melbourne fans will be able to catch them at Northcote Theatre on 11 September 2026.

Named after the year band members Tim Wheeler, Mark Hamilton and Rick McMurray were born, as well as the release year of Star Wars: A New Hope, the album quickly became a cornerstone of alternative rock. In 2013, NME included it in its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Australian audiences can expect a full performance of the record, including enduring fan favourites Girl From Mars, Kung Fu, Goldfinger, Angel Interceptor and Oh Yeah. The anniversary tour taps into the nostalgia of the era while also celebrating a band that has continued evolving over more than three decades.
Since forming in 1992, Ash have built a loyal global following through relentless touring and a steady run of acclaimed releases. Across their career, the group has released nine studio albums, earned multiple UK chart successes and maintained their place as one of the most recognisable acts to emerge from the Britpop and alternative rock explosion of the 1990s.
The band also continues to release new music, with their latest album Ad Astra arriving in 2025 and further cementing their longevity.
