Frankston’s waterfront is set to light up this winter with the launch of a brand-new fire festival packed with bonfires, live entertainment, roaming performers and fire-cooked food.
The inaugural Frankston Winter Fire Festival will take over the foreshore on Saturday 13 June 2026, transforming the waterfront into a glowing winter celebration designed to keep people outdoors long after the summer crowds disappear.
The one-night event will feature a large bonfire lighting ceremony alongside fire pits, live music performances and roaming entertainers, creating a festival atmosphere across the city centre.
Visitors can also expect plenty of winter comfort food, with stalls serving fire-cooked dishes alongside mulled wine, hot chocolate and warm drinks throughout the night.
Frankston City Council says the event is designed to bring warmth and energy to the waterfront during the colder months, adding a new winter experience to the city’s growing calendar of major events.
Deputy Mayor Steffie Conroy said the festival would help keep the city lively throughout the year.
“The Frankston Winter Fire Festival will bring warmth, light and energy to our city at a time when things traditionally begin to quieten down,” Cr Conroy said.
The new event joins a growing lineup of seasonal festivals and attractions already held in Frankston, including the Carlsberg Beach Club, Frankston Swim Classic and Australian Sand Sculpting Championships.
Mayor Kris Bolam and councillors say the focus of the winter event is creating an atmosphere where people can gather outdoors, socialise and enjoy the waterfront in a completely different way.
“This festival is all about creating connection — it’s a chance for people to rug up, come together and enjoy the warmth and atmosphere that make our city so special,” Cr Nathan Butler O’Reilly said.
The Frankston Winter Fire Festival takes place on Saturday 13 June 2026 at the Frankston Waterfront.
