Chocolate Starfish are bringing Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell back to Melbourne, with the Australian rockers set to perform the iconic album in full at the Palais Theatre on Saturday, 5 June 2027.
The tour will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the record, which remains one of the best-selling albums of all time and has a huge following in Australia.
The national tour kicks off at Thirroul’s Anita’s Theatre on Friday, 12 March, before travelling to Narooma, the Bellarine Peninsula, Sydney, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Penrith.
“It’s been a few years since we toured our Bat Out of Hell show. Our fans have spoken, and we’re bringing it back with a fresh take for the 50th anniversary of the album,” said Chocolate Starfish singer Adam Thompson.
The singer says the album has a particularly special place in his life, recalling how its theatrical sound transported him away from his childhood in regional Australia.
“The songs and Meat Loaf’s voice transported me out of that country isolation and into a fantasy world,” he explained. “It’s shaped the theatrical and dynamic way I looked at songwriting and performance ever since.”
The band will celebrate the album’s biggest songs while putting their own theatrical spin on the legendary record.
Thompson says the album’s enduring popularity in Australia is a major reason for bringing the show back.
“It’s wild to think that one in 15 people in Australia own the Bat Out of Hell album. There’s a lot of love out there for the classic original, and we’ll honour and celebrate that on tour next year.”
