Mahalia Barnes is hitting the road with The Soul Mates for a huge Australian tour next year, with nine Victorian shows among 25 dates across the country.
The powerhouse vocalist will bring a dynamic mix of soul classics and original material to venues across Victoria from April, with stops spanning Sale, Archies Creek, Main Ridge, Castlemaine, Brunswick, Frankston, St Kilda, Queenscliff and Portland.
The national tour kicks off in Warners Bay on Friday 12 March before travelling through New South Wales, the ACT, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, wrapping up in Portland on Sunday 30 May.
Growing up as the daughter of Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia has been surrounded by music her entire life. Her influences range from Ray Charles, Otis Redding and Ike & Tina Turner to Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder and, of course, Cold Chisel.
Mahalia Barnes + The Soul Mates, featuring a floating lineup of some of Australia’s most respected musicians including Clayton Doley, Franco Raggatt and Benjamin Rodgers, have been performing together for more than two decades.
The group has toured with Bruce Springsteen, The Roots, Mavis Staples, Bryan Adams and Tom Jones, alongside their own headline shows across Australia and internationally.
Victorian fans can catch the band at The Wedge in Sale on Saturday 3 April, followed by Archies Creek Hotel on Sunday 4 April. The tour returns to Victoria in May for shows at The Shed Theatre at The Pig & Whistle in Main Ridge, Theatre Royal in Castlemaine, Brunswick Ballroom, Frankston Arts Centre, Memo Music Hall, Queenscliff Town Hall and Portland Arts Centre.
