This NAIDOC Week the Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT) in Fed Square invites the community to honour the strength, vision, and legacy of First Peoples with a vibrant day of markets, art, and cultural celebration.
Aligning with this year’s theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, KHT will host a special NAIDOC Week Market on Friday 11 July from 1pm to 6pm, offering a day of free festivities in the heart of Narrm (Melbourne).
The market will feature over 20 First Peoples stallholders, including Clothing The Gaps, Haus of Dizzy, KaToBi, Kevin Williams Art Gallery, Mob Melts, and Wickey Creations, showcasing everything from fashion and art to handmade goods. The event coincides with the NAIDOC in the City free concert at Fed Square, following the annual NAIDOC Week march from Parliament House—creating a full day of cultural pride and connection.
Visitors can also explore two powerful exhibitions:
- Connections to Home, the first solo exhibition by Uncle Col Clark (Barkindji and Ngiyampaa Elder), presenting his deeply personal carvings and paintings.
- Coming Home, a poignant collection by Dr. Jenny Murray-Jones (Yorta Yorta, Baraparapa, and Wiradjuri), blending historical pieces from KHT’s Collections with contemporary works.
Additional highlights include free workshops, an Elders Lounge, and exclusive NAIDOC-themed merchandise designed by Wurruck Yambo (Gunai/Kurnai), available at shopKHT.
Throughout the week, KHT will also run Building Aboriginal Cultural Competency Workshops and Guided Aboriginal Walking Tours (Mon-Fri, 1pm), deepening understanding of First Peoples’ heritage.
Join KHT in celebrating the resilience of the past and the promise of the future—a tribute to community, creativity, and the next generation’s enduring legacy.
