Melbourne’s Regent Theatre is getting a little bit of Rodeo Drive glamour in 2026, with the blockbuster Broadway and West End hit Pretty Woman: The Musical confirmed for a July opening.
Based on the beloved 1990 romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, the musical brings one of pop culture’s most iconic love stories to the stage — complete with soaring vocals, big laughs and even bigger hair. It’s part of a national rollout that will see the production tour Adelaide, Perth and Melbourne following its successful runs in Brisbane and Sydney.

Australia’s own Samantha Jade will star as Vivian Ward, the role that made Julia Roberts a household name. She’ll be joined by Ben Hall as Edward Lewis, the suave businessman whose chance encounter with Vivian turns into an unexpected love story.
The production features a rock-driven score by Grammy winners Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, whose credits include Kinky Boots and Hairspray.

Joining the leads is Melbourne’s own Michelle Brasier as Vivian’s sharp-tongued best friend, Kit De Luca, and Tim Omaji (Timomatic) in the dual role of Happy Man and Mr Thompson.
With its powerhouse cast, shimmering design and heart-on-sleeve storytelling, Pretty Woman: The Musical promises to be one of Melbourne’s biggest stage events of 2026 — a feel-good, fashion-fuelled night at the theatre that celebrates love, transformation, and a little bit of luck.
