Melbourne football fans are getting a rare midweek treat this March, with AAMI Park set to host the Socceroos’ final home appearance before they head off to the FIFA World Cup 2026. The FIFA Series 2026 lands in the city as a one-night double header on Monday 31 March, bringing four international teams together under lights in the heart of Melbourne.
The evening kicks off at 5.00pm with China taking on Cameroon, before the main event at 8.10pm sees the Socceroos face Curacao in what will be their last chance to play in front of a home crowd before departing for the World Cup. For local supporters, it’s a chance to farewell the national side properly and soak up international football without leaving the city.
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos said, “This is yet another blockbuster major event in the heart of Melbourne, providing an opportunity for all football fans from across Australia and the region to fill AAMI Park and send off the Socceroos in style.”
“Victorians are massive supporters of the Socceroos and we look forward to creating the incredible atmosphere our fans are renowned for,” he added.
Football Australia Interim Chief Executive Officer Heather Garriock described the series as a key moment for the team. “The FIFA Series 2026™ will be the CommBank Socceroos final appearance on home soil before departing for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and the last chance for all Australian’s cheer on the men’s national team on home soil.”
Tickets are available via Ticketek, with presales for FA+ members from 10am and Football Family members from 12pm AEDT on Thursday 22 January. General public tickets go on sale from 4pm on Friday 23 January.
For Melbourne fans, it’s a rare opportunity to see the Socceroos up close before the world stage calls.
