Public Image Ltd, the influential post-punk outfit fronted by John Lydon, is heading back to Australia and New Zealand in January 2027 as part of their global This Is Not The Final PiL Tour.
The run follows sold-out legs across Europe and North America earlier in 2026 and marks the band’s first Australian shows since 2013 and their first New Zealand appearance since 1989.
Known for their uncompromising sound and boundary-pushing approach, Public Image Ltd will bring a setlist that spans decades, from early-era releases such as Public Image and Metal Box through to later material that continues to challenge genre conventions.

The current lineup sees Lydon joined by long-time collaborators Bruce Smith on drums, Lu Edmonds on guitar and Scott Firth on bass, delivering the band’s signature heavy, hypnotic grooves and confrontational edge.
Formed in 1978 in the aftermath of the Sex Pistols, PiL quickly carved out a distinct identity, blending dub, rock, electronics and avant-garde experimentation. Over more than four decades, they have remained one of the most unpredictable and vital forces in modern music, continually evolving while staying true to their ethos.
The Australian leg includes a Melbourne stop at Forum Melbourne on Sunday 24 January, alongside shows in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. Each performance promises the raw energy and immersive intensity that has defined PiL’s enduring legacy.
Tickets go on pre-sale from Friday 8 May at 9:00am local time, with general public sales opening Tuesday 12 May at 9:00am.
