Get ready for ballroom, Latin dance and plenty of high-energy choreography, with Burn The Floor bringing its brand-new production Luminous to Melbourne this September.
The internationally acclaimed dance company will take over the Arts Centre Melbourne Playhouse from 11 to 19 September, bringing together performers from seven countries for a show celebrating 28 years of pushing the boundaries of ballroom and Latin dance.

Produced by Burn The Floor founder Harley Medcalf, Luminous is led by Artistic Director and Choreographer Jason Gilkison, whose career includes work on Broadway, the West End and Las Vegas, as well as his role as Creative Director of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The cast includes Dancing with the Stars Australia favourites Jorja Freeman and Gustavo Viglio, the real-life couple who have become one of the ballroom world’s best-known partnerships.
Freeman, a two-time Dancing with the Stars champion, is also part of the creative team behind the new production.
The cast also features So You Think You Can Dance Australia winner Talia Fowler, Dancing with the Stars France champion Anaïs Reira, The Voice Australia performer Carlos Velazquez and Australian dancer Rome Champion.
Champion was recently crowned Australia’s Red Bull Dance Your Style National Champion and has performed alongside global stars Billie Eilish and Sampa The Great.

“Burn The Floor isn’t just a show – it’s a movement,” said Jason Gilkison. “From the very beginning, we set out to shatter every expectation of what ballroom dance could be. Burn The Floor has always been about pushing boundaries – and that hunger to evolve is what has kept us alive and thriving.”
Burn The Floor began in 1999 after a performance featuring world champion ballroom dancers at Elton John’s 50th birthday celebration. Since then, it has performed across more than 30 countries and sold more than four million tickets.
