Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story opens at cinemas on 31 August just in time for Father’s Day. If he’s music fan he might want to check out this documentary thet tells the story of the late Melbourne born record executive and tour promoter spanning his five decade career.

8. Spend the day at Melbourne’s iconic Luna Park
Luna Park in St Kilda has been closed for the winter while its undergone some maintenance and renos. It’s back open, ready for spring and has a special offer for Father’s Day: all dads get free entry and unlimited rides all day at Luna Park when they purchase a child’s unlimited ride ticket.
9. Take him to a car lovers festival in St Kilda
Showcars Melbourne and Acland Street Traders Association is hosting the 9th Fathers Day Car and Bike Show in Acland Street, Shakespeare Grove and O’Donnell Gardens in St Kilda. This is a car lovers festival with a family vibe.
