Global digital gaming festival DreamHack is set to take over Melbourne this April. The event will transform Melbourne Park from Friday, 26 April to Sunday, 28 April, attracting thousands of gaming enthusiasts from interstate and overseas.
The renowned gaming lifestyle festival was founded in Sweden in the early 1990s and has grown to become a global destination for gamers, with events held across Europe, North America, and Melbourne.
DreamHack creates a world where the gaming community comes to life. The festivals, featuring everything gaming under one roof, create an arena where you can come to connect, explore, win, play a part, and be yourself through a gaming lifestyle experience.
Attendees meet their favorite creators, experience professional esports tournaments, amateur and varsity gaming tournaments, world-famous bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) LAN party, cosplay championships, panels, art, activities, expo, screenings, live music, and more.
This year’s DreamHack Melbourne will boast a program featuring professional and amateur esports competitions and is headlined by the League of Legends Circuit Oceania Grand Final and the region’s best Counter-Strike 2 teams contesting the ESL Challenger.
Attendees at DreamHack Melbourne 2024 can expect a wide range of video game, esports, cosplay, and creator-focused content, including a massive gaming expo featuring the latest in tech and AAA games, an Artist Alley featuring local artists’ creations for sale, a massive Bring-Your-Own-Computer LAN tournament, and an esports stage in Margaret Court Arena featuring some of Australia’s best pro gamers.
The state government has entered into a landmark partnership with DreamHack that has secured the epic event in Melbourne until 2028, through Victoria’s tourism and events company Visit Victoria.
As the national capital for digital gaming, Victoria is home to more than 45 per cent of Australia’s digital gaming businesses and generates 40 per cent of digital games development income according to a 2023 ABS report.
DreamHack Melbourne 2024 tickets will go on sale on Thursday, 14 March at 4pm AEST.
