Families can take part in a fun and unique activity this week as the Guru Dudu team present their Silent Disco Walking Tours at the Arts Centre Melbourne – an action-packed dance party cruising around the iconic Spire followed by an immersive journey into the art and design of the Theatres Building.
The tours offer a playful exploration behind the scenes of Arts Centre Melbourne, blurring the lines between audience and performer roles.
Participants wear provided headphones to enjoy dance tunes spanning from the 1970s to the present, along with entertaining commentary, as they dance-walk through the venue’s various spaces.
Attendees are encouraged to immerse themselves in the art by interpretive dancing to works by renowned artists like Jeffrey Smart and John Olsen, participating in spontaneous flash mobs, engaging in improvised group singing, and interacting with passersby.
Guru Dudu are a Melbourne based creative collective that have spread their wings across Australia and into the UK and Europe.
Guru Dudu is on each day (excluding this Sunday 7 April) until 13 April with sessions at 10am,11am and midday, 2pm and 3pm and 4pm.
The Silent Disco Walking Tours were created by performer Guru Dudu who debuted “Happy Yoga” at the 2008 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. In 2013 the team launched the highly successful tours combining his passions for theatre improve, placemaking and engagement in familiar and enriching environments.
