Chadstone’s Teddy Bear Hospital is back on the weekend of 3-4 August to give teddy bears their winter check ups.
The Teddy Bear Hospital is run by medical and allied health students from the University of Melbourne and provides a safe and fun medical appointment for kids and their teddies. It’s a unique educational program that’s aimed at reducing childhood anxieties around visits to the doctor or trips to the hospital.
In return, it gives the medical and allied health students experience communicating and engaging with younger patients.
Here’s what to expect at the Teddy Bear Hospital:
- Teddy Check-Ups: Each teddy will receive a top-to-toe check-up by a team of amazing teddy doctors, nurses, and allied health specialists.
- Teddy ECGs and X-rays: They’ll make sure your teddy’s heart and bones are in great shape!
- Teddy Physio Sessions: Because even teddies need some physical therapy.
- Teddy Music Therapy: Soothing tunes for the fluffy patients.
- Teddy Toothbrushing Courses: Teaching good dental hygiene to teddies.
A Sensory Hour will be held on Sunday 4 August with limited capacity, to create a quiet hospital experience for children with sensory needs.
Tickets are $20 for one child, $30 for 2 or more children per family. Bring your favourite teddy or new furry friends are available for purchase from the Teddy Bear Shop.
All proceeds will be donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
