Port Fairy will play host to a free neon light display that will illuminate the night with vivid colours and fantastic fun from 16-18 August.
From gracefully ‘swimming’ alongside the jellyfish to playfully posing with a shark, Under the Neon Sea transports people to a vibrant underwater world.
The installations are made of LED Neon Flex, a safe material that can be touched, and which looks amazing in photos. Developed by Australian visual artist Carla O’Brien, they have been seen at festivals and events around the world, include Burning Man festival.
Moyne Shire Mayor, Cr Ian Smith said the neon sea creatures are designed to capture the imagination and create an unforgettable experience for all.
“This will be a magical weekend for people of all ages to enjoy, with live music and face painting each night,” said Cr Smith.
“Maybe locals could have a holiday at home over the weekend, and take advantage of our Stay 3, Pay 2 deal at the caravan parks and cabins. You can stay all weekend and still get to work on Monday,” he said.
Under the Neon Sea will be held at Fiddlers Green in Port Fairy on the following dates.
- Friday 16 August, with free live music by Matt Sell
- Saturday 17 August, with free live music by Pyper and Dylan
- Sunday 18 August, with free live music by Evie Mae
There will be free face painting each night from 5pm – 8pm, with the neon lights display running from 5pm – 10pm.
