Iconic 1980s synth-pop duo Soft Cell are headed down under in April 2025 – on their first EVER tour of Australia.
They’ll be performing their classic album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret in its entirety, which includes hits like Tainted Lone, Where Did Our Love Go and more. In Melbourne you can catch them at the Palais Theatre in St Kilda on 17 April 2025.
Comprising Marc Almond and David Ball, Soft Cell formed in 1980. Known for their innovative use of synthesisers and electronic music, their sound is characterized by its blend of pop, new wave, and electronic elements.
Soft Cell gained prominence with their 1981 hit single Tainted Love, which became a global sensation and remains one of the best-selling singles of all time.
The duo’s music often explores themes of romance, melancholy, and urban decay, set against a backdrop of electronic beats and atmospheric melodies.
In addition to the band’s hits, Marc Almond will perform his solo hits from a career that spans over 40 years.
In a statement, Marc Almond said he has always wanted to come to Australia.
“Over my 45 year career (yes that long) fans have always asked me when it might happen, so overjoyed to say that it is happening,” Almond said.
“And to perform both as Marc Almond with my solo hits, and then transform into Soft Cell on the same night will be another first. Everyone tells me Australians love to party and it promises to be something very special,” he said.
