Chadstone is bringing a special pop-up Hello Kitty Cafe to celebrate 50 years of everyone’s favorite feline! Whether you’re a die-hard fan, a foodie, or just love pop culture, this event is for you. Expect an awesome installation by street artist Sofles, exclusive Hello Kitty merchandise, and a fun-filled school holiday program.
The Hello Kitty Cafe, opening at 10am on Friday, 20 September, will be set up in The Social Quarter at Chadstone. It’s going to be a cute and cozy spot featuring Hello Kitty’s favorite foods, including strawberry sandos, themed bento boxes, strawberry iced matcha lattes, cakes, cookies, and coffees.

For a fully immersive Hello Kitty experience, check out Hotel Chadstone Melbourne – M Gallery By Sofitel. They’re offering a special Hello Kitty package starting at $387 per night. It includes a stay for two adults and two kids, breakfast, and a Hello Kitty merch pack with a tote bag, cap, and mug. Plus, the Altus Rooftop Bar will be serving Hello Kitty High Tea from September 20 to October 20, with themed savory and sweet treats. Packages start at $85 for adults and $45 for kids.
To kick off the cafe’s opening, Australian graffiti artist Sofles (Russell Fenn) will unveil a massive Hello Kitty-inspired artwork. Standing 9 metres tall, it’s his biggest piece yet and will make for a great photo backdrop.
The 30-seat cafe will be walk-in only, with a grab-and-go counter for Hello Kitty-themed snacks and drinks. There’ll also be a pop-up shop with limited-edition Hello Kitty and Sofles merchandise, including t-shirts, hoodies, totes, caps, keyrings, and drink bottles.

The Hello Kitty celebrations will continue with a fun school holiday program from September 21 to October 6. Kids can enjoy activities like designing their own Hello Kitty tote bags and keychains, crafts, and even a silent disco. Tickets are $5 per child, with sessions every 10 minutes from 10am to 4:20pm daily.
