The Star Wars galaxy will no longer be far, far away – the Melbourne Museum has secured the blockbuster world premiere of LEGO Star Wars: The Exhibition.
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos today joined Ryan ‘Brickman’ McNaught to announce the world premiere and the Australian exclusive will open at Melbourne Museum on May the fourth.
Bringing together two iconic universes in one unforgettable display, the exhibition is being built by Brickman – the LEGO Masters host and Australia’s only LEGO Certified Professional, one of just 23 worldwide.
The exhibit will include the first life-sized LEGO Star Wars exhibition figure – the iconic X-Wing RED-5, which is made up of 64,759 bricks, taking 382 build hours.
“Building these iconic scenes and characters in LEGO Star Wars form is an extremely complex task – taking the humble LEGO brick and using it by the millions to translate into Star Wars builds and models at an epic scale the world has never seen before,” Brickman said.
The exhibition will be the largest touring LEGO brick exhibition in the universe, with more than eight million LEGO bricks and more than 25,000 hours of building and will be made in Melbourne at Brickman’s Tullamarine headquarters.
This galactic wonder is the latest superstar attraction at Melbourne Museum, which this year wowed visitors with Titanic: The Artefact Exhibition and Victoria the T Rex. Victoria’s cultural institutions continue to deliver world-class events for the whole family.
Tickets for the exhibition go on sale in early 2025. To join the ticket waitlist, visit the Melbourne Museum website.
