The iconic Gershwin Room at the Esplanade Hotel (the Espy) is celebrating 100 years as a live music space with a series of three concerts from beloved Aussie rock acts this December.
The “100 Years of the Gersh” gigs will deature the Cosmic Psychos, Eskimo Joe and Augie March.
The shows are in honour of a century of unforgettable gigs, timeless tunes and electric energy at the venue that’s been home to legends, local favourites and up-and-coming artists alike.
The Gershwin Room is a storied performance space renowned for its rich musical history. Named after the legendary composer George Gershwin, it originally opening in 1921 as a dining room, before it began hosting live music nights (jazz and dance) in 1924. Since then, it has hosted an eclectic mix of artists, cementing its reputation as a hub for live music.
The 100 Years of the Gersh lineup includes:
- Melbourne’s own punk rock outfit Cosmic Psychos on Sunday 8 December.
- Aussie alternative rock act Eskimo Joe will play on Friday 13 December.
- Indie pop band Augie March who hail from Shepparton on Saturday 21 December.
