The Australian Open is set to serve up a spectacular celebration of diversity and inclusion with the 2025 Glam Slam, a three-day LGBTQIA+ tennis tournament and party that’s as bold as it is groundbreaking.
From 24-26 January, 260 players from nearly 30 countries will compete in an event that transforms tennis into a platform for pride and connection.
Since debuting in 2019, the Glam Slam—organised by the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance in partnership with Tennis Australia—has created a safe and inclusive space for queer athletes, a rarity in the traditionally conservative world of sports.
This year, the excitement extends beyond the courts, with drag performances, glam stations, face painting, and DJ sets aligning with AO Pride Day on 24 January.
Sunday’s action will culminate in the finals at Court 6, followed by a celebrity match featuring Luke and Sassy Scott alongside professional players at the Grey Goose Courtside Bar. Players of all gender identities are encouraged to join, with a special women’s division to promote inclusivity.
As the only Grand Slam to host such an event, the Australian Open continues to innovate, proving that tennis can be a sport for everyone—on the court and beyond.
