Melbourne film and music fans are about to witness one of cinema’s biggest unofficial rivalries come to life when The Music of Hans Zimmer vs John Williams makes its Australian debut at Hamer Hall on 6 September.
The internationally successful concert production will arrive in Melbourne for two exclusive performances at Hamer Hall on 6 September 2026.
Presented by John Foreman’s Australian Pops Orchestra in partnership with Sony Music Australia, the event will feature a 75-piece orchestra performing some of the most recognisable film scores ever written.
Audiences can expect music pulled from blockbuster favourites including Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Jurassic Park, Gladiator, Interstellar and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Conducted and hosted by John Foreman, the show combines live orchestral arrangements with dramatic lighting and stage production designed to match the scale of the music.
Rather than a traditional classical performance, the concert leans into the long-running fan debate surrounding legendary composers Hans Zimmer and John Williams. Throughout the night, audiences will be encouraged to choose sides as the production playfully compares two of Hollywood’s most influential musical catalogues.
The family-friendly format is expected to appeal to both dedicated orchestra fans and movie lovers hearing these scores performed live for the first time.23w
