Legendary British new wave band Squeeze are heading back to Australia in 2027, marking their first local tour in almost a decade with a run of national dates.
The tour begins in Brisbane next April before travelling to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, giving Australian fans another chance to see the acclaimed band live after their last visit in 2018. Squeeze will perform at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on 19 April 2027 as part of the national tour.
The Australian shows celebrate the release of Squeeze’s 16th studio album, Trixies, which arrived earlier this year. The album has a unique backstory, with songs originally written by founding members Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford when they were just 16 and 19 years old before finally being completed more than five decades later.
Fans can expect a setlist that blends new material with the band’s extensive catalogue of classic hits, making the tour a celebration of both their latest music and a career spanning more than 50 years.
Formed in London in 1974, Squeeze became one of Britain’s most influential bands with their distinctive mix of pop, rock and witty songwriting. Although the group has experienced multiple break-ups and reunions over the decades, Tilbrook and Difford have remained at its heart, continuing to write and perform together.
Australia has long had a connection with the band, first welcoming Squeeze in 1980 before return visits in 1993 and 2018. Their upcoming tour will be another opportunity for longtime fans to hear favourites performed live alongside tracks from Trixies.
Tickets go on general sale from 10am on Friday 31 July, with an early bird presale beginning 48 hours earlier.
