Melbourne’s cult Lune croissants will team up with another Melbourne icon next month when they are for sale for the first time ever at the Australian Grand Prix in Albert Park.
Melburnians have been queuing up for the famous pastries for several years now. But being available at the Grand Prix is a kind of homecoming for Lune’s founder, Kate Reid, who used to be a Formula One engineer before she established the famous bakery.
Not content with simply serving up pre-baked treats, Lune will be proving and baking some pastries on-site to ensure that coveted “hot from the oven” sensation.
Situated conveniently near turn one and two in the general admission area, Lune will offer an enticing selection of flavors including plain, pain au chocolat, almond, and ham and gruyere, alongside lemon cruffins and kouign-amann.
While some varieties will be freshly baked at the track, others will be expertly prepared by Lune’s team of pastry chefs at their Fitzroy HQ.
For those unable to secure a trackside ticket, fear not! Lune is also offering a limited edition Formula One themed croissant in its stores throughout March.
The 2024 Australian Grand Prix is on 21-24 March.
