One of the most influential horror films of the 2000s is returning to the big screen in a chilling new format, with The Ring in Concert set to tour Australia this October and November.
Presented by TEG Dainty and Paramount Pictures, the live-to-picture experience will stop in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, giving audiences the chance to watch The Ring accompanied by a live orchestra performing Hans Zimmer’s haunting score in sync with the film.
Melbourne will have its turn on 5 November 2026 when the film screens at Plenary at MCEC.
Conducted by Sarah-Grace Williams, the production promises to intensify the psychological tension that made the film a global phenomenon more than two decades ago.
Directed by Gore Verbinski and starring Naomi Watts, The Ring follows journalist Rachel Keller as she investigates a mysterious videotape linked to a string of unexplained deaths. After watching the tape, viewers receive a terrifying phone call warning them they have seven days to live.
Released in 2002 as an English-language remake of the Japanese horror classic Ring, the film became a major box office success, earning more than US$249 million worldwide and helping usher Japanese-inspired horror into mainstream Western cinema.
Zimmer described the score’s minimalist and unsettling style as central to the film’s creeping dread and psychological tension. Experiencing the music performed live alongside the film is expected to bring a new level of intensity to its disturbing imagery and suspense.
The Ring remains one of the defining horror films of its era, remembered for its eerie atmosphere, unforgettable visuals and iconic scenes that continue to unsettle audiences today.
Tickets for The Ring in Concert go on sale Wednesday 6 May 2026 at 11am local time.
