Melbourne is about to get a new immersive attraction that promises to transport visitors deep into the heart of the ancient Inca civilisation without leaving the CBD.
Launching on 14 May 2026 at 206 Bourke Street, Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City combines free-roam virtual reality technology with cinematic storytelling to recreate one of the world’s most iconic historical sites.

Presented by Fever, the experience takes guests on a fully interactive expedition through the Peruvian Andes, allowing them to wander through detailed digital recreations of the legendary Inca citadel. Using next-generation VR headsets, visitors will explore temple corridors, sacred plazas and sprawling agricultural terraces while surrounded by immersive spatial audio and cinematic visual effects.
The experience has been designed to feel less like a museum exhibition and more like stepping directly into history. Guests will move through mist-covered mountain trails, witness ceremonial rituals at the Temple of the Sun and even soar above the Andes alongside condors.

Adding a modern layer to the journey is Teri, a robotic guide voiced by Terry Crews, who accompanies visitors through the experience while sharing historical insights and commentary.
The attraction also recreates moments from daily Incan life, including entering homes during a solar eclipse and exploring the spiritual traditions of the civilisation through interactive storytelling.

Unlike traditional seated VR experiences, Machu Picchu: Journey to the Lost City encourages guests to freely roam through the digital environment, creating a more social and collaborative adventure for families, friends and curious travellers alike.
The Melbourne launch follows growing global demand for immersive experiences that blend entertainment, education and advanced technology into one accessible format.

With ancient history, virtual reality and cinematic world-building all colliding under one roof, the new Bourke Street attraction is shaping up as one of Melbourne’s most ambitious immersive experiences for 2026.
